I often stay away from reading short stories , since few authors can create characters or a plot with much depth in just a few pages. But once again, this author manages to give us an engaging story with interesting characters . In this case, Cara Romano and Nick Lancaster. They meet while Cara is working part time at the Lucky Lady Casino, and Nick is working undercover looking like a bum, trying to find the source of the drugs going through the Lucky Lady. This is a fast paced story with some suspense, and of course , romance. I am looking forward to the next story in this series. I was entrusted a copy of this book . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The perfect short read of finding love when you least expect it. Cara is working part time at the The Lucky Lady Casino while going to nursing school, when she meets Nick, an undercover cop scoping out the casino for drug trafficking. There is a chemistry between them but Nick tries to fight it off, even though Cara pursues it. But in the end love always wins out. I so enjoyed these two, two lonely souls that strike up a friendship that leads to so much more. This is the second book in the series but is a completely stand alone story.

I really enjoyed Bet On It by Kathryn Shay! It is the second book in The Lucky Lady Casino series and definitely worth reading. Nick was working undercover in the casino when he meets Cara. He has no idea why she's interested in him, but he knows she is definitely off limits until he cracks this case and he isn't doing anything that might compromise it after months of hard work. Cara sees something in Nick. He has a protective instinct that she is drawn to and she is sure he is hiding something, but has no idea what. I'm really enjoying this series! If you want to read a fun, interesting and short series this one is perfect for you. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
