About this ebook

Everything just went up in flames, and Elora is left in the rubble wondering where it all went wrong… and why the body of her dear friend Marlowe was never found in the charred remnants of her home. She’s alone, desperate, and frightened.

When Gwendolyn Dutch, Marlowe’s previous employer and one of the most influential women in the country, invites Elora into her world and offers her a job, it feels like the clean slate Elora has been aching for.

But offers like that don’t just fall into someone’s lap, least of all Elora’s. And when something sounds too good to be true? Well, it probably is.

Shiny things are distracting, and even though Elora is grateful for the grand roof over her head and the lavish parties at Gwendolyn’s estate, she can’t shake the feeling that something is wrong. It seems as though nobody is looking for Marlowe despite how much Gwendolyn and her son express how much they miss her.

Elora won’t give up on her friend. Something is amiss, and she is determined to shake something loose. But all she manages to shake loose is trouble, and every rock she turns over reveals seedy truths about the people she’s living with.

Not all that glitters is gold.

Holy bleep! I desperately need to know more than the author has given us so far. Everyone around her has made it clear, at least to this reader, that Elora is not safe where she’s at. They all have an angle and most of them don’t have her best interests at heart. There’s still light at the end of the tunnel, but will Elora be able to save herself before it’s too late? And what about Marlowe. I need more of this series and I NEED it NOW! I received a complimentary advance copy of this book

After Elora loses everything, including her friend, she thinks nothing will be the same. Until there is a little light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. However, everything then seems to happen all at once and appears to get better... but is it all too good to be true??? and could she now be in danger too??? Bring on the bext book in the series

After the fire Elora is left without a place to stay and no money. Marlowe's employer takes Elora in and gives her a job while living in her home. Elora is warned about her employer and to be careful. She feels she is being watched, and Gwendolyn wants to know where she is constantly. A page turning novel that you want the next installment.
