The perfect short read of finding love when you least expect it. Cara is working part time at the The Lucky Lady Casino while going to nursing school, when she meets Nick, an undercover cop scoping out the casino for drug trafficking. There is a chemistry between them but Nick tries to fight it off, even though Cara pursues it. But in the end love always wins out. I so enjoyed these two, two lonely souls that strike up a friendship that leads to so much more. This is the second book in the series but is a completely stand alone story.

I often stay away from reading short stories , since few authors can create characters or a plot with much depth in just a few pages. But once again, this author manages to give us an engaging story with interesting characters . In this case, Cara Romano and Nick Lancaster. They meet while Cara is working part time at the Lucky Lady Casino, and Nick is working undercover looking like a bum, trying to find the source of the drugs going through the Lucky Lady. This is a fast paced story with some suspense, and of course , romance. I am looking forward to the next story in this series. I was entrusted a copy of this book . The opinions expressed are solely my own.

ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars Bet On It is book 2 in the Lucky Lady Casino short stories by Kathryn Shay...Loving these short stories. Cara Romano works part-time as a waitress at the Lucky Lady Casino and going to school to get her degree in nursing and using her wages and tips to pay for that education. On her rounds through the casino she meets Nick Lancaster, a homeless man who comes in regularly and plays the slot machines. There’s something about him that Cara find intriguing so she strikes up a conversation whenever she sees him...except unbeknownst to her, Nick is an undercover cop investigating drugs that are being transferred and sold at the casino... Fast paced, quick read, suspenseful and romance too!
