I love the second installment of this series. I've been a fan for a long time and was ecstatic the original series has been improved and published . If you loved book 1 you will love this one just as much! I am only giving it 4 stars because I wish it was longer, but what a cliff hanger! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.5 Stars This is book two in this series (must be read in order) and though it is almost double the length of book one I almost feel like more happened in book one, in terms of world-building, character establishment and just plain events. Now, I did absolutely love the chemistry between the captain and Mila and their steamy scenes. Like, a ton. Captain Asher's charisma is extremely evident every time he is on the page and I am totally here for it! There is a quite a bit of talk and description of the energies/powers of Mila and the elites and the priestesses (understandable, since it is what the whole plot is based around) and I have to say two books in I still don't understand any of it or how it works or what is actually happening when that stuff is going on. I mean, I get the gist of it but definitely not the specifics. And as such, I don't really care about it and just want to get past the descriptions of it to more action and dialogue (and ok, yes, steam lol). The book ends on a kind-of, sort-of cliffhanger, and though I most definitely want to see what happens next and how things will progress with Asher and Mila, though I'm not dying for it like you can be with some cliffhangers either. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Linked to a man she calls her enemy, what will Mila sacrifice to be free? Yet, she finds things aren't as simple as they are. As much as she loathes Captain Asher Rawlings, she's also attracted to him and the power that resides within him draws her own powers in no matter how she fights it. She's a toy, a pawn in this deadly game and when she thinks she's figured things out, things happens and there are more questions than answers. I can't wait for the next book to see if she'll be able to escape her enemies or not and whether or not she can ultimately trust the one man she shouldn't.
