It begins as a small story about self-pity, temptation, and a breakdown of moral and ethical boundaries but grows into an epic accounting of cause and effect that takes place in six countries on three continents, spanning forty years. It is ultimately a compilation of several stories, intertwined by actions and events, built on the intrigue of romance, war, kidnapping, theft, and murder.

David Phillips spent more than three decades in corporate life. In 2011, he gave up his career to devote more time to writing and painting. He was raised in the Midwest but spent most of his adult life in California, where he met his wife, MaryAnn. Today, he and MaryAnn make their home in Tennessee, in a house filled with dogs, cats, and a cranky parrot named Stinky.
