Nonostante ciò, Giorgio, un militare di carriera, subisce il fascino di Fosca, donna raffinata e di cultura, e inizia con lei una tormentata relazione che, tra fughe d'amore e duelli mortali, rischia di fargli perdere il lume della ragione. Opera fondamentale della Scapigliatura milanese, 'Fosca' è anche la fonte d'ispirazione del film 'Passione d'amore' di Ettore Scola. Igino Ugo Tarchetti (1839-1869) è stato uno scrittore, giornalista e poeta italiano. Importante esponente della corrente artistico-letteraria milanese della "Scapigliatura", il suo romanzo più celebre è 'Fosca', fonte di ispirazione del film 'Passione d'amore' di Ettore Scola.
