Als das Buch „Dinosaurier in Deutschland“ (1993) von Ernst Probst und Raymund Windolf (1953–2010) erschien, wurde darin nur ein einziger Raubdinosaurier aus Bayern erwähnt. Nämlich der 1858 in einem Steinbruch in Kelheim oder bei Jachenhausen nahe Riedenburg entdeckte truthuhngroße Compsognathus longipes („Langbeiniger Zartkiefer“). Doch in 31 Jahren von 1993 bis 2024 hat sich das Bild drastisch geändert. Laut dem E-Book „Raubdinosaurier in Bayern“ von Ernst Probst sind inzwischen im Freistaat 18 Raubdinosaurier durch ganze Skelette, Teile von solchen und eine Einzelfeder nachgewiesen. Bei 14 dieser Funde handelt es sich um flugfähige Urvögel der Arten Archaeopteryx lithographica und Alcmonavis poeschli, die man heute als Raubdinosaurier betrachtet. Die übrigen vier Raubdinosaurier sind kleine flugunfähige Reptilien mit und ohne Federn. Sie heißen Compsognathus longipes, Juravenator starki, Sciurumimus albersdoerferi und Ostromia crassipes. Die Erstbeschreiber der bayerischen Raubdinosaurier – wie Hermann von Meyer, Andreas Wagner, Oliver Walter Mischa Rauhut, Christian Foth, Peter Wellnhofer, Ursula B. Göhlich, Luis M. Chiappe, Helmut Tischlinger und Mark A. Norell – werden in Wort und oft auch mit Bild vorgestellt.
