The Professor is the first novel by Charlotte Bronte. It was written before Jane Eyre and was rejected by many publishers, but was eventually published after writer’s death in 1857.
It’s a story about a young man William Crimsworth. His growing up, love and career as a teacher in a school for girls are described in the novel. The book is based on Charlotte’s staying in Brussels where she studied languages in 1842.
Jane Eyre, Shierley and Vilette are other famous novels by Charlotte Bronte.
