I was glued to this book - We become dumb founded that woman and children get treated in the manner that Carolyn and her family got treated and not by their self will. That most people would be to scared to even attempt to remove themselves change their only existance for something so unknown and scary.
I am in awe that you removed yourself and your children from the situation.
I have a sister who is still to this day unable to remove herself from an abusive situation, she cannot see the control and abuse in the same way other people do. It is hard to leave and realise that you are not responsible but a victim of abuse.
All the best for your and your beautiful childrens future may you continued to be blessed.

It was nice to see what happened after the book "Escape" a great book, I thoroughly enjoyed it! X

About the author
Carolyn Jessop was born in 1968 into the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a splinter-group from the Mormon church. At 18 she was forced into an arranged marriage with Merril Jessop, a man 32 years her senior. During her 17-year marriage Carolyn had 8 children, withstood psychological abuse from her husband and his 6 other wives and was denied the right to make any decisions for herself. She escaped in 2003 with all 8 of her children and $20 to her name. In 2006 her testimony played a crucial part of the case that led to the conviction of the notorious cult leader Warren Jeffs. Carolyn lives in Utah with her children.
