About the author

Emma Carroll has worked as an English teacher, a news reporter, an avocado picker, the person who punches holes into filofax paper and is now a bestselling and award-winning British children's author. Carroll has won and been nominated for numerous awards, including the Books Are My Bag Readers' Award, the Branford Boase Award, the CILIP Carnegie Medal and others. Carroll is the author of the highly acclaimed Frost Hollow Hall, which won the North East Book Award, and The Girl Who Walked on Air, which was nominated for the Carnegie Medal. Her title The Somerset Tsunami was selected by indie booksellers as their Book of the Month and was The Times Children's Book of the Week.

Katherine Press is an English actor and producer, best known for playing Hannah in Stephen Poliakoff’s 2013 BBC series Dancing on the Edge. Katherine trained as a dancer at Central School of Ballet, before attending the University of Cambridge. She has appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger, Closed Circuit and A Bad Penny and done voice work for BBC Radio 4, BBC Classic Stories and narrated the Costa Children's Book Award-winning The Skylarks' War by Hilary McKay.
