About this ebook

Electroplating in the home workshop can seem a daunting task due to the range of chemicals, the unfamiliar processes and the underlying chemistry involved. However, the results of a well-cleaned item and a well-maintained electrolyte are overwhelmingly impressive and, compared to sending parts to be industrially electroplated, are very cost effective. The practical advice given in Electroplating will provide you with the confidence and ability to create an electroplating tank of your own. This book will guide you through each of the processes and the equipment needed to start your own plating system and, alongside detailed step-by-step photographs and diagrams, provide instructions on their most effective use.

Great book for someone with a little bit of a scientific mind and the urge to electroplate. They use chemicals and measurements in metric standards which to people who want things in a more scientific standard can appreciate. The history is well done and the formulas clearly come across as well researched with many sources cited at the end. However the books instructions could have been a little clearer in how to read the formulas as they are in a excel sheet format. They don't explain what the components purposes are. They slightly compare each formula but not to great detail. They mention brighteners and leveners for solutions all over the book BUT they DONT actually list ANY brighteners/leveners that you could potentially add into solution to aquire a desired result. Early in the book they omit Cyanide formulas to certain metals (bronze/brass) where they admit are more commercially viable, then later on proceed to offer cyanide formulas (gold/silver). Overall, I like this book.
