About this ebook

Little Nellie is called the Little Violet of the Blessed Sacrament.

Little Nellie was not yet four and a half when God took her to Heaven; but she had already made her First Holy Communion. Before she died, she had received Our Lord 32 times. She knew that in Holy Communion she was receiving God; she always called Him "Holy God." When the Holy Father, Pope St. Pius X, heard about Little Nellie, he cried: "There! That is the sign for which I was waiting." Then the Holy Father said that children could receive Holy Communion when they were little, rather than waiting till age 12. This marvelous true story is perfect to teach children love and reverence for Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist!

Oh my. I'm not sure why this came to my mind last night but I read this book when I was probably about 6 or 7 years old. I loved it and it had a lasting impact on me. And for some reason I was thinking about it and here I am able to find the actual book still after all of these years. If you have a child around that age I guess depending on your child's personality you may want them to read this book. Especially little girls. I am in my fifties now and that's how much of an impact this book had on me all these years later at the time when I read it I did not realize it was a true story

About the author

Sister Mary Dominic, R.G.S., was a nun and author of the twentieth century. Her child-geared biography of Little Nellie of Holy God tells the tale of a noble little girl who received the Eucharist thirty-two times before her early death. The work was illustrated by Sister John Vianney, S.S.N.D., who was a loving person confined to bed for the majority of her religious life. Sister Dominic's work, which was ecclesiastically approved, was first published in 1961 by The Bruce Publishing Company, Wisconsin. It was also retypeset and reprinted by TAN in 2006.
