About this ebook

Embark on a gripping journey through the untamed West with Elmer Kelton's two classic novels, After the Bugles and Llano River.

After the Bugles

Joshua Buckalew leaves behind the deserted battlefields that claimed his brother Thomas. The war with Mexico has cost him dearly, but it has also forged a strong bond with the land and the Mexican families who stood with him against Santa Anna's tyranny. Traveling with his best friend Ramon Hernandez, Josh faces uncertainty in a land full of bandits and opportunists who would harm Ramon simply for being Mexican. As exiles in the very land they fought to liberate, Josh and Ramon must rebuild their lives after the bugles have fallen silent.

Llano River

Broke, tired, and seeking a fight, former cattleman Dundee arrives in Titusville. Instead of trouble, he finds a job offer from the town's top man, John Titus. Dundee's task: to uncover the rustlers stealing Titus's extensive cattle herd. But Titus demands more than just finding the missing cattle; he wants Dundee to pin the blame on Blue Roan Hardesty, a former friend turned bitter enemy of the powerful Titus clan. As Dundee delves deeper, his discoveries ignite a shooting war from a simmering feud, placing him squarely in the crosshairs.

From seven-time Spur Award winner and "true Texas legend" (former Texas Governor Rick Perry) Elmer Kelton, these western novels deliver a vivid, authentic portrait of the untamed frontier. Perfect for fans of western fiction and the Wild West genre.
