The humid, thick air of the late afternoon clung to Jack Frazier like a shroud, the buzzing of cicadas a relentless, grating symphony. He stood on the edge of the sprawling property, a manicured hand shielding his eyes from the setting sun, a predatory gleam in their depths. The land, a patchwork of overgrown weeds and gnarled trees, sloped gently towards a neglected patch of earth marked by weathered, tilting tombstones.

"Prime real estate," he murmured, his voice a low, gravelly rasp, "Absolutely prime."

His companion, old man Hemlock, the property's former owner, shifted uneasily, his thin frame silhouetted against the fading light.

"Mr. Frazier, I implore you, those graves…"

Jack cut him off with a dismissive wave.

"Hemlock, spare me the sentimental drivel. I've seen more ghosts in a bottle of whiskey than you have in this overgrown weed patch. Time is money, and those stones are nothing but an inconvenience."

"But they're not just stones, Mr. Frazier," Hemlock insisted, his voice laced with a tremor, "They're people. People who were laid to rest here, generations ago. Desecrating their resting place…"

Jack let out a harsh, mirthless laugh.

"Desecrating? Please. Half those stones are cracked, the names illegible. It looks like a dog's breakfast. Besides," he leaned in, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "You know as well as I do, Hemlock, those old cemeteries weren't exactly well-maintained. Bones scattered, graves disturbed… it's been happening for decades. I'm just… expediting the process."
