About this ebook

"2Bits" is not a traditional memoir; it’s a journey through fragmented memories and hard-won lessons from a complex relationship with alcohol. Each chapter serves as a piece of a larger puzzle, tracing how drinking intertwined with my life as I grappled with the need to fit in, connect, and find peace. These stories reveal the evolving ways I turned to alcohol to navigate the emotional highs and lows of life—from carefree days of youth to moments of rebellion, confusion, and escape.

This collection of moments, sometimes messy and raw, offers an honest look at how my choices shaped me, for better or worse. Through these reflections, I hope to connect with others who’ve faced similar struggles, sharing that growth doesn’t come with a clear beginning or end but with the courage to keep moving forward, one step at a time.

About the author

About Me:

Welcome! Originally from Toledo, Ohio, I now call Newark home, where I live with my wife and two kids. My family is my anchor, grounding me in a life of purpose and commitment both personally and professionally. Outside of my work as a counselor, I find balance and peace in the simple things—working out, staying active, and spending time in my yard. Exercise and outdoor work are my ways of staying centered, connecting with the moment, and reflecting on the journey that’s brought me here.

As a counselor, I strive to create a safe space for others to explore their challenges, without judgment, offering genuine support through life’s complex layers.

My Journey:

I didn’t take a straight road to get here. My journey, marked by a complex relationship with drinking and the inner battles that came with it, has shaped how I work and connect with others. My past is woven with moments of struggle, resilience, and revelations that didn’t arrive neatly but came as fragments, each one teaching me something new about who I am and what truly matters. I've learned that change isn’t an overnight transformation but a commitment made in quiet moments, an acceptance of each step, each mistake, as part of a larger journey.

My Credentials:

I hold a Master’s in Counseling and Human Development from Walsh University, I am a National Certified Counselor, a Board-Certified Tele-mental Health Counselor, and a Master Addiction Counselor. My expertise includes a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, stress, panic, and substance use concerns. These certifications and years of experience help me guide clients with evidence-based approaches tailored to each person’s needs.

My Practice:

In my private practice, I take an eclectic, individualized approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and reality-based approaches. My work often centers on individuals who feel they’re carrying an invisible weight—those who may struggle with self-worth, feel disconnected from their lives, or are seeking purpose beyond the pain they carry. I work with people who have lived with their own “monsters,” those subtle choices and behaviors that may have grown over time into challenges they’re now ready to face.

I am committed to creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their fears, motivations, and struggles without judgment. I don’t just help clients with their immediate issues; I support them in building a foundation of resilience, authenticity, and self-acceptance. My practice emphasizes helping clients recognize their own strength, find stability, and connect deeply with the resilience within them.

Beyond the Office:

Outside of counseling, I’m also a writer. My autobiography, 2Bits, is a reflection on my journey with addiction, mental health, faith, and self-acceptance. Each chapter captures a different part of my life, offering insights into the lessons I’ve gathered along the way. Through this work, I aim to resonate with others who may feel lost or isolated, offering a reminder that while the path may be dark at times, there’s always light to guide us forward.

Whether you’re searching for help or just looking to connect, I welcome you. It’s never too late to take that first step, and it’s my privilege to walk alongside you.
