About this ebook

1928
The Bonaventure Circus is a refuge for many, but Pippa Ripley was rejected from its inner circle as a baby. When she receives mysterious messages from someone called the "Watchman," she is determined to find him and the connection to her birth. As Pippa's search leads her to a man seeking justice for his murdered sister and evidence that a serial killer has been haunting the circus train, she must decide if uncovering her roots is worth putting herself directly in the path of the killer.

Present Day
The old circus train depot will either be torn down or preserved for historical importance, and its future rests on real estate project manager Chandler Faulk's shoulders. As she dives deep into the depot's history, she's also balancing a newly diagnosed autoimmune disease and the pressures of single motherhood. When she discovers clues to the unsolved murders of the past, Chandler is pulled into a story far darker and more haunting than even an abandoned train depot could portend.

True to Jaime Jo Wright fashion The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus is a time split book that keeps you on the edge of your seat with plenty of suspense, mystery, spookiness and unsolved murders that I'm sure will give you the willies to the very last page. This is definitely a book that you don't want to miss reading. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

What a fantastic novel! The dual setting of 1928 and present day in a small town in Wisconsin brings depth to the mysteries surrounding Bonaventure Circus. It was like having two beautifully-crafted stories in one book. The prose is incredible. I was immediately fascinated with Pippa and Chandler's life. Though living in different times, both are captivated with life at the circus:

When I picked up Jaime Jo Wright’s latest book The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus I really didn’t know what to expect. The setting is quite different from her previous novels and I was hoping for no circus clichés like creepy clowns. I must say she delivered a gripping novel once again. The setting may be different, but the suspense and the craftmanship is still ever present and there are no creepy clowns. I consider Wright to be a master of the split timeline novel and of eerie suspense. The old train depot and the wintering quarters of the circus provide the backdrop for two stories that ultimately resolve in a satisfying conclusion. I especially enjoyed all of the less than perfect characters, not all of them circus performers. As with earlier novels, I was kept guessing from page to page and was mostly surprised by the outcome of the novel in twining the two stories together. I find a dual timeline novel to be a winner if I get so caught up in the story that I am reading that I am almost disappointed to turn the page and find myself transported to the other story. The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus was such a novel. I highly recommend this book especially to those readers who enjoy a little creepy with their suspense. I was given a copy of this book through NetGalley from the author. All opinions are my own.
