Il rigoroso protocollo conoscitivo – adottato per il rilievo e l’analisi materica, costruttiva e dello stato di conservazione – rappresenta un modello metodologico interdisciplinare in grado di orientare il progetto di riuso e adeguamento funzionale verso soluzioni compatibili con i più aggiornati principi della conservazione. | The contribution presents the premises, study and results of an integrated knowledge-gathering research developed prior to the restoration of the Cascino Barracks in Cagliari, a military compound built in the first half of the nineteenth-century as a penal colony and currently used as a barracks by the Carabinieri corps. The strict investigative protocol – implemented for the survey and analysis of the materials, construction techniques and state of conservation of the site – represents an interdisciplinary methodological model that can direct the reuse and functional upgrade project towards solutions compatible with the latest principles of conservation.
