About this ebook

A cardiologist's revolutionary weight-loss plan that allows dieters to enjoy good carbs while still losing weight

The glycemic index has been the basis of many popular diets. But it doesn't take into account the serving sizes people actually eat and eliminates too many foods for dieters to stick with it. Now Dr. Robert Thompson's breakthrough program uses the glycemic load--the glycemic index adjusted for serving size--to take the GI a step forward. The glycemic load is a more accurate and effective tool in controlling weight and insulin resistance, allowing dieters to eat more foods while still burning fat, cutting cravings, and speeding up their metabolism. Safe, simple, and scientifically proven, it's the smartest weight-loss plan yet.

After years of a vegetarian diet, my triglycerides were still high and my HDL was low. Why? How? I looked online for ways to naturally lower my triglycerides and that is how I found out about the Glycemic Load theory. I downloaded the book and it was like it was written for me. Although I am not overweight, this book discussed how the way some carbs are digested can lead to not only obesity, but high triglycerides, low HDL and borderline blood sugar readings. The main culprits? Bread, rice, potatoes and sugary drinks. Dr. Thompson does a good job of explaining how the Adkins diet had generally the right idea, but how tweaking it with the benefit of modern medical knowledge can help one maintain and sustain a healthy lifestyle. If you are like me and looking for a natural way to lower cholesterol, or blood sugar or your weight, give this diet a try. As Dr. Thompson says, no one has ever died from lack of starch!
