Chris Termeer has written a primer for those interested in adding the oil and gas sector to their portfolio. Don't let the down-to-earth language and the easy flow of information fool you. This book should be assigned reading for those who want to know more about how the oil and gas industry works. Mr. Termeer does not stop there. He includes a rich historical perspective that allows the reader to understand the importance of how oil and gas became the major source of energy in the United States and other countries, and how these two substances are obtained. You will not find a clearer or more detailed explanation of this subject than what Chris Termeer has included in this guide. It certainly will be a go-to recommendation in my circle of friends. As the author quotes Warren Buffett as saying,"Never invest in a business you cannot understand". Fundamentals of Investing in Oil and Gas certainly offers a valuable lesson in understanding the world of oil and gas.

Although the book seems pricey, given the typical minimum investment dollars required for such deals, this book is a bargain. Having said that, anyone seriously considering investing considerable sums of money should start with this book - but look into others that may be more specific given your needs. This book covers a lot of ground with many jewels of information. But only enough to get you started on any particular topic. If you are more familiar with O&G investing, much of the inf ormation presented may seem trite. I would bet however you would still learn a few tidbits you didn't know. This book is chock full of illustrations, charts and footnotes. It has plenty of resources - websites, recommended readings, bookstores, periodicals and most importantly, a good glossary. What I like about this book that is very easy to overlook it has numerous bits of wisdom tucked in. Anyone who is reading this for investing should read it more than once and read it closely, highlight, dog-ear and mark it up. There are too many excellent recommendations that, if overlooked, you will be kicking yourself later (like hiring an independent geologist to review the prospect before investing). My o

Fundamentals of Investing in Oil and Gas doesn’t exactly sound like a page turner, but you’d be surprised at how interesting the subject is once you begin reading about the history of oil and gas and how prices of these two industries have formed much of modern history. If you are even remotely thinking of investing in either gas or oil (or both) then you simply must read the book. And even if you are not planning to invest at the moment, the history given in the book is interesting and thought-provoking. The concepts are clearly explained and the graphs and charts aid in understanding what can sometimes be a complicated topic. The book is well-written and has more of a story feel than a textbook feel. I recommend the book as it is informative as well as interesting.
