About the author

Scott James serves as an Elder at The Church at Brook Hills. He and his wife Jaime have four children—Will, Kirstine, Benjamin, & Bethan—who served as the inspiration and original audience for this Advent devotional. They live in Birmingham, Alabama where Scott works as a pediatric physician. Scott serves in the children’s and youth ministries at Brook Hills and is passionate about helping families grow together in Christ.

David Platt is the Pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (A.B.J.) from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theology (Th.M) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. David has written two books, The New York Times Bestseller Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream and Radical Together: Unleashing the People of God for the Purpose of God.
