Then, the first of the injured, including policemen and soldiers, start to be brought in, but the nurses and doctors on the day shift still can't make sense of what the victims are talking about. Soon their resources begin to be overwhelmed.
Some of the injured begin to 'change' and soon the hospital, like so many other buildings throughout the city, is on lockdown. But as things grow increasingly chaotic outside, for those trapped within the old hospital building, both staff and patients, things quickly become infinitely worse as the dead return to life and stalk the corridors in search of flesh.

Mark Morris is the author of twenty novels, among which are Toady, Stitch, The Immaculate, The Secret of Anatomy, Fiddleback, The Deluge and four books in the popular Doctor Who range. His short stories, novellas, articles and reviews have appeared in a wide variety of anthologies and magazines, and he is editor of both Cinema Macabre, a book of horror movie essays by genre luminaries for which he won the 2007 British Fantasy Award, and its follow-up Cinema Futura. His recently published or forthcoming work includes the official tie-in novel for zombie apocalypse computer game Dead Island, a novelisation of the 1971 Hammer movie Vampire Circus, and several Doctor Who audio dramas for Big Finish Productions.
Stephen Jones has won three World Fantasy Awards, four Horror Writers Association Bram Stoker Awards and three International Horror Guild Awards. He has won the British Fantasy Award twenty-one times and is also a Hugo Award nominee. A former television producer/director and genre movie publicist and consultant he has co-edited numerous books including The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror series as well as numerous other Mammoths. He lives in London.
