About this ebook

Hide & Peak

Once again, two otherworldly friends find themselves in the midst of a strange, supernatural mystery—and this time, demons are involved!

After defeating the inugami, Misato’s team at the Abnormal Disaster Unit entrusts the good-looking onmyoji with the resolution of a new enigma. At the same time, hot-blooded freelance monk Ryouji is discreetly tasked with a missing person case in Izumo: Katsuki Narukami, Misato’s beloved younger brother, has vanished.

As their respective investigations progress, uncanny similarities between the two cases begin to surface and the more it seems like Ryouji and Misato are the latest players in an increasingly sinister game of tag.

Volume 2 is even thicker than volume 1, yet the story is tighter and more solid, with just one big theme: or maybe two, but they are intertwined tightly into one. While trying to solve the mystery of a curse in a certain part of Tomoe, Misato and Ryouji have to deal with the disappearance of Misato's younger brother. However, the two cases run parallel - are parallel to each other in details and nuance, merging into one. This book is rich in traditional and religious details, but the translation smoothly helps us to understand things along while we read the story without causing us to check footnotes time and again. I wish we could read more stories about Misato and Ryouji soon - really loving the bond they're having (which is also explored even deeper in this volume!).
