Des Howell is a former rock 'n' roll star who never leaves his secluded oceanfront mansion. PAUL QUARRINGTON was the author of ten novels, including Whale Music, King Leary, and Galveston. He was also a musician, an award-winning screenwriter, a filmmaker, a playwright and an acclaimed non-fiction writer. He won the Governor General’sLiterary Award for Fiction for Whale Music in 1989 and the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour in 1988 for King Leary. In 2004, his novel Galveston was nominated for The Scotiabank Giller Prize.
