Weights and measurement conversions are mathematical equations that allow people all over the world to "talk the same language" when buying products sold by weight. The weights and measurement conversions are also used by people following recipes to insure the proper amount of each ingredient is added. People in the United States use the Imperial System of feet, ounces, cups, etc, while most of the rest of the world uses the International System of Units which is meters, liters, grams, etc. Weights and measurement conversions allow us to know that one kilogram is equal to 2.2 pounds so we can use the proper amount or be charged correctly for the product.
