This is Irving's biography of Mohammed and the founders of Islam not his biography of Columbus. Read 'Life & Voyages of Columbus, vol. 1-2' for that story. Despite this error, Irving's interpretation of various academic authorities creates an enjoyable story about the search for eternal life.
