Waffle is a dish made from batter or dough that is cooked between two checkered patterned plates or "waffle iron".
Waffles can be served for breakfast with maple syrup, butter or jam. But they are sometimes served at lunch or dinner as in chicken and waffles. They can also be served as a dessert as in chocolate waffles.
The Belgian waffle is popular which is very thick and has larger and deeper squares with which to catch the toppings such as ice cream.
