the book is set partly in 1975 and we meet troubled film star Vivien Lockhart who falls for Giovanni Moretti, and it seems her fortunes have finally changed. Until she meets his sister, who was one creepy character. the story is also set in present day Tuscany, Lucy Whittaker - fell for the wrong guy, so she applied for a job in the crumbling Castillo Barbarossa, secrets are trapped within the walls, and as Lucy starts to get stuck into her duties, out if the view of the reclusive Vivien Lucy is unable to resist digging into the secrets of this house and owner. what should be an idyllic Italian villa. holds some sinister secrets, will Lucy unearth its secrets or will her own track her to the villa and expose her to the media sharks. Ok so what did I think, well the author has written the story in a way that hints at what secrets are hidden. Vivians life was a struggle, but she soldiered on, found her Prince charming, then found life at the castle (or villa as the case may be) was spoiled by the wicked sister in law. the relationship between brother and sister caused some major troubles. in present day, I found Lucy was very naive, but she begins to grow as she delves into the life of her employer and of course the company of a handsome Italian man. and as parts of the tragedy that rocked Vivians world are revealed, the suspicion of what happened grew in my mind. Although the story was at times slow, there were others which just pulled me into the book. and at one point I thought I'd worked out the mystery, but I was miss-directed. and that doesn't happen often. And that's why I have enjoyed the book, the majority of the book was slightly too drawn out for me. the ending is a but of a shock, it seemed too quick and I couldn't believe that the author did that, I admit I was bawling. Overall I think this books a solid mystery suspense, that will appeal to many. And the description of Tuscany makes me want to visit even more. *** this review is MY honest opinion and I have not received any monies or requested to review the book.***.
