‘Such is the nature of a legacy, Subhana… A legacy is God-given. It thrives on sacrifice. Otherwise, Kaikeyi would not have asked for that boon. Lord Ramachandra would not have gone into exile. Ravana would not have kidnapped Sita. And King Dasharatha would not have died pining for his son. All this happened because of the legacy of the truth-loving Raghukul dynasty… One has to suffer. There is no escape from it. To each his own. Somebody maybe like Rama for whom a vow was sacrosanct. Somebody may be devoted to brotherly love, like Lakshman, or Bharat. And it is somebody’s lot to be the tragic Sita. A play that highlights the importance of legacy.
वारसा अशाच असतो सुभाना... ते देवाचं देणं असतं. त्यागातच तो जगतो. नाहीतर कैकयीनं तो वर मागितला नसता. प्रभू रामचंद्र वनवासी झाले नसते. रावणानं सीतेला पळवलं नसतं. ना दशरथ पुत्रशोकानं गेले असते. हे सर्व सत्यवचनी रघुकुलाच्या ‘वारशा’मुळे झाले... सोसावंच लागतं. त्यातून कुणाचीही सुटका नाही. प्रत्येकाचा पिंड वेगळा. कोण एकवचनी राम असतो, तर कोणी बंधुभक्त लक्ष्मण, भरत होतं. तर कुणाच्या नशिबी दुर्दैवी सीता बनण्याचं येतं.... वारशाचं महत्त्व अधोरेखित करणारं नाटक!
