Sudhangan started his career in the year 1978 in a Tamil weekly "Thisaigal" (Directions). He also did freelancing in the popular Tamil Weekly "Kumudham".
After that he joined very popular Ananda Vikatan group in 1982. He was the first reporter for "Junior Vikatan" which was launched in January 1983! He became the most popular investigative journalist for Junior Vikatan and he became Chief Editor of Junior Vikaran.
In 1992 October, he joined as an editor for the Tamil Daily "Dinamani" of the Indian Express Group. Later he became the founder editor for the Tamil weekly "Tamizhan Express" launched by The Indian Express with Vivek Goenka as Managing Director and Sudhangan as Executive Editor.
He played a role as a Psephologist and Political Analyst for Vijay TV Channel in 1996 elections. He became the CEO (Current Affairs) of film director K.Balachandar's Minbimbangal. He did election shows for minbimbangal, covering parliamentary elections in 1998 & 1999.
Sudhangan joined Jaya TV in 2001 and played the role of Political Analyst until 2005. After 2005, he became a columnist for many newspapers and weeklies. He continued with election shows in Zee Tamil Channel. In Jaya TV, he is doing 6 political shows per week, director of "Thenkinnam" (a compilation of old Tamil Movie Songs). As a stage artist, he performed more than 500 shows from 1982. He also acted in 3 TV serials and 9 feature films directed by K. Balachandar, Bharathiraja and Agathiyan.
On literary side, he translated more than 15 books from English to Tamil which includes Former DGP V.R.Lakshminarayanan's Auto Biography - Appointment & Disappointments, Fredryick Forsyth, James Hadley Chase and Osho.
At present, he is columnist for Tamil daily "Dinamalar" Nellai Edition. He is also an independent writer and columnist.
He is the only South Indian Journalist to win "The Statesman" award for rural reporting in Calcutta.
