About the author

Usha R Prabakaran, an Economics and Law Graduate, born in 1955, was a practicing lawyer for several years before entering the corporate sector. After heading the legal division of a major corporate, she took to pickling research.


During her sustained research in cookery, especially pickling, for more than a decade, the author has drawn on both traditional knowledge and modern science to create hundreds of new varieties of pickles.


She has contributed a number of articles on pickle recipes to The Hindu and various Tamil magazines like Mangayar Malar, Kumudam, Kalki, etc. She has shared her exclusive knowledge of pickling on the TV, demonstrating the ease with which pickles may be prepared in the average kitchen using everyday ingredients.


Usha is married and has a son, Prajnesh (India's top seeded male singles Tennis player). Her husband Prabhakharan, S.G. is a lawyer turned businessman.
