A tutorial introduction to fiber optics, which explains fundamental concepts of fiber optics, components and systems with minimal math. With more than 100,000 copies in print, Understanding Fiber Optics has been widely used in the classroom, for self study, and in corporate training since the first edition was published in 1987. This is a reprint of the 5th edition, originally published by Pearson Education and now available at low cost from Laser Light Press.

Yazar hakkında
Jeff Hecht has written about fiber optics for over 30 years. Trained as an electronic engineer at Caltech, he is a contributing editor to Laser Focus World, and writes frequently for other publications including New Scientist, IEEE Spectrum, and Optics & Photonics News. His other books include Understanding Lasers: An Entry-Level Guide, The Laser Guidebook, City of Light: The Story of Fiber Optics, and Optics: Light for a New Age. He is a senior member of the Optical Society of America, a life member of IEEE, and also belongs to the American Physical Society and the National Association of Science writers.
