As a child growing up in on a rural property outside Vancouver, Canada, Joan Kilby dreamed of becoming a writer. As a young woman she studied marine biology, obtaining a Masters of Science degree and working in environmental biology for many years. When she was finally ready to settle down, she married an awesome guy and moved with him to Melbourne, Australia.
