While its importance in domestic law has long been acknowledged, transparency has until now remained largely unexplored in international law. This study of transparency issues in key areas such as international economic law, environmental law, human rights law and humanitarian law brings together new and important insights on this pressing issue. Andrea Bianchi is a Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland.
Anne Peters is Director at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg, and Professor of International Law and Constitutional Law at the University of Basel, Switzerland.
