Marcus Cowper was born in London, UK, and studied medieval history at the universities of Manchester and Birmingham. Having worked for Osprey Publishing as an editor, since 2002 he has been the co-owner of Ilios Publishing, specializing in military history publishing. He is the author of a number of titles, including Fortress 55: Cathar Castles: Fortresses of the Albigensian Crusade 1209â1300, and lives and works in Oxford, UK.
