Thomas Nelson Page (1853–1922) was an American lawyer, diplomat, and writer known for his nostalgic and romanticized portrayals of the Old South. Born into a former slaveholding family in Virginia, he gained national fame for his fiction and essays that idealized plantation life. Page later served as U.S. Ambassador to Italy under President Woodrow Wilson. While admired for his literary skill, his racial and political views are now seen as emblematic of Lost Cause ideology and white supremacist thought.
