Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) was a renowned French novelist and playwright. He gained international fame for his adventurous works such as The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. Born to a general who served under Napoleon, Dumas's mixed-race background influenced his worldview and writing.
