Although most famous for his collections of fairy tales and folklore, Andrew Lang also dealt with other subject, including ghosts. However, this is not a collection of camp-fire ghost stories, but rather an exploration of 'true' ghost tales and anecdotes, looking at their natural causes and explanations. Andrew Lang (31 March 1844 - 20 July 1912) was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. He is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. The Andrew Lang lectures at the University of St Andrews are named after him. Other notable works by this author include: "The Ballads and Lyrics of Old France" (1872), "The Folklore of France" (1878), and "Custom and Myth" (1884). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
