About this ebook

Tobar is a dying planet. The very people inhabiting it are destroying all life and magic there. Not even the power of the Stones is immune to the destruction. The magical wall protecting the Nellari people is failing, and the Stones themselves are dying.

Annis, a half-blood Nellari and granddaughter of the High Priestess is chosen as First Daughter. She struggles to save her people, but no one heeds her warning. No one believes the rebellious young First Daughter, except perhaps Josylnn, the powerful but acerbic Stone she is bound to.

These two make an unlikely pair. Annis is young, uncertain of her power and place in the Nellari world. She does not want the responsibility that the Stones have thrust upon her. Josylnn is a powerful stone who has waited to be chosen for hundreds of years. She has a high opinion of herself and little patience with her young charge.

Disaster strikes, and all hope for Tobar is gone. Annia and Josylnn must join forces to save a remnant of the peoples on Tobar and one brave tree called Forest. Together, they journey into space to find a new home for everyone. But they have not left behind the anger and hate that destroyed Tobar. Will it destroy them before they reach their new home?

About the author

Teresa Howard makes her home in Hoover, Al, where she shares her abode with Gracie Jane, her furry dachshund friend. She is a life-long fan of science fiction and fantasy, and her dream since childhood has been to see her books in libraries and bookstores.

In 2000, Teresa participated in Writers Workshops taught by the late Ann Crispin and has been a regular at DragonCon’s Writers Track led by Nancy Knight for many years.

Though she was employed for many years as a technology coordinator and computer lab instructor in the Birmingham School System, Teresa’s passions remained writing science fiction and fantasy and researching genealogy. Many of her stories have elements of both. Her work covers a wide range of speculative fiction and has been published in magazines, anthologies, webzines, and on iPhone apps in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
