The final installment of the D'Artagnan Romances chronicles heroic adventures in seventeenth-century France, including the tale of "The Man in the Iron Mask."
With 1844's The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas introduced the world to the immortal hero D'Artagnan and the inseparable trio of king's Musketeers: Athos, Aramis, and Porthos. Their many escapadesâfull of swordfights, derring-do, and chivalryâcame to define the swashbuckler genre of adventure fiction.
Following the second D'Artagnan novel, Twenty Years After, this third and final volume is itself separated into three parts: "The Vicomte of Bragelonne," "Louise de la Vallière," and "The Man in the Iron Mask."
