Hyper local journalism had been flourishing in Kerala even half a century back. Newspapers had reporters, mostly part timers in every nook and corner. May be their ability in writing or their understanding of journalism were not very good, but their ‘nose for news’ was envious, even by modern standard. Kerala Press Academy undertook this initiative to make them more informative in the twin responsibility of collecting news and writing news, Prepared by two top academicians of Malayalam journalism Mr Thomas Jacob and late T.Venugopal this is still considered a model text book of journalism for beginners.
