About this ebook

Navigate Dubai with confidence using this essential, up-to-date travel guide. Designed for clarity and ease of use, this comprehensive resource provides all the practical information, detailed insights, and reliable recommendations you need to plan and execute a smooth, enjoyable, and rewarding trip to Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.

Getting to and around Dubai is made simple with dedicated sections covering Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC), inter-emirate bus travel, and Omani connections. We demystify the city's excellent public transport system, providing clear explanations of the Dubai Metro (Red and Green Lines), the Dubai Tram, the extensive RTA bus network, and the crucial Nol travel card – including which type to buy and how to use it effectively. Understand taxi fares, ride-sharing options (Uber/Careem), and even the practicalities of renting a car, including Salik tolls and driving regulations.

Choosing where to stay is crucial. This guide breaks down Dubai's diverse districts – from the historic charm of Deira and Bur Dubai near the Creek, to the beachfront bustle of Jumeirah and Dubai Marina/JBR, the modern heart of Downtown Dubai, and the iconic Palm Jumeirah. For each area, we offer curated accommodation suggestions across all budget levels: hostels and budget hotels, reliable mid-range chains and hotel apartments, and luxurious five-star resorts, including iconic properties like the Burj Al Arab and Atlantis, The Palm.

Maximize your sightseeing time with structured information on Dubai's must-see attractions. Find practical details for visiting the Burj Khalifa (including booking tips), The Dubai Mall and its Aquarium, the Dubai Fountain, Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates, the Museum of the Future, and Dubai Parks and Resorts. Explore historical sites like the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and Dubai Museum, and learn how to navigate the traditional Gold, Spice, and Textile Souks efficiently.

Beyond sightseeing, the guide covers a wide range of activities. Get the lowdown on reputable Desert Safari operators, understand the shopping landscape from mega-malls to souk haggling (including VAT refund information), find the best public beaches, and discover options for watersports, dhow cruises, and unique experiences like hot air ballooning or skydiving. The extensive "Eat" section covers dining options for every budget, from cheap local eats like shawarma and budget-friendly Indian restaurants to mid-range international cuisine and splurgeworthy fine dining experiences, including Dubai's famous brunch scene and Michelin Guide highlights.

Crucially, this guide prioritizes your safety and cultural understanding. Find clear advice on local laws, respecting customs (including dress code and behaviour during Ramadan), alcohol regulations, health precautions (especially regarding heat), and emergency contacts. Helpful callout boxes throughout the text provide quick-reference tips, warnings, and important cultural notes. We also cover practicalities like staying connected (SIM cards, Wi-Fi, VoIP restrictions), currency, and the local weekend structure.

Plan smarter, travel smoother, and avoid common pitfalls. Whether you're a first-time visitor or returning to explore more, the "Dubai Travel Guide" is the indispensable tool for making the most of your time and budget in this dynamic city.

This book is from 2016, but is advertised as being from 2024. Tried to get a refund, but Google didn't let me. Bad service from Google and a very untrustworthy publisher.
