About the author

Prof T P Ashoka is a well known critic and scholar in Kannada who has been teaching literature, film and theater for the last forty years. Apart from teaching in an autonomous college, he has organized and taught in more than three hundred and fifty short term workshops on literature, film and theater all over Karnataka. He is a well known columnist and translator as well. Prof Ashoka has authored more than thirty books which include eighteen collections of critical essays, several monographs and full-length studies of eminent Kannada writers like Kuvempu, Masti Venkatesha Iyengar, Shivarama Karantha, U R Ananthamurthy, Tejaswi, Venkatesha Murthy and Vaidehi. He has received honours, awards and prizes from various prestigious institutions like Karnataka Sahitya Academy, Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Mysore University, Govinda Pai Memorial Research Center, Aryabhata Sandesha and Masthi Pratishthana.
