About this ebook

What if my dream job is really a nightmare?

I shouldn’t have taken a job I knew nothing about, but I was desperate. That’s how I wound up living in a sprawling mansion that looked more like it belonged in Europe than America. My billionaire boss locks me in my room every night from ten to eight. That’s weird, right? Should I spend more time obsessing over the occult-inspired artwork or the creepy blue lights that surround the mansion at night? Or should I keep my mouth shut and focus on working off my mountain of debt? (A fast-paced urban fantasy you won’t want to put down.)

Crystal Banks finished her degree with honors the valedictorian of her class she found in bed with her now ex boyfriend. Mr Cheater belongs to the family that runs the largest publishing house in the City - and he adds insult to further injury - he blackballs her at the other publishing house - apparently rather extraordinarily. A cruel twist since the apartment they shared was in his name, so she was unemployed, and homeless - and who would want the sheets back after finding him doing the nasty with someone else on them. As she exits what was to be the last of her horrible interviews of the day, she spots a long line of folks at Steele Corp. Assistant sought, housing included. Salary insane. Unfortunately, not the only thing exceptional about the position - which she is hired for immediately at the recommendation of the beautiful blonde by the side of the CEO. Some bizarre conditions are attached - a childish curfew no out of the room between 10 pm and 8 am. Entire wings off limits. Condescending attitude from her boss. Too bad she finds him attractive anyway. poor little blooded witch A cataclysm of suspense filled romance and bizarre supernatural adventures collide in a way both frightening and amusing. I received an advance copy of the book. I read the book on Kindle. I'm a big fan so far!

Something Shifter This Way Comes by Josie Walker is an incredible book. This book’s female main character Crystal is loaded with personality. She is snarky, snide, talks to and answers herself and is a perfect foil for the male main character Eric. Crystal views Eric as handsome, cold, demanding, snobbish, and stand-offish. He is her rich billionaire employer and she is just his lowly assistant. In the beginning of the story, Crystal is in immediate need of a well paying job since she is currently homeless and up to her ears in educational debt. After she gets hired by Eric Steele a reclusive but gorgeous billionaire she can’t figure out if she wants him and/or if he wants her in return. The continual sexual tension between these two characters make the story climb to sexy, sensuous, highs without ever completing the actual deed. These interactions between Eric and Crystal plus Crystal’s irascible humorous personality with her ongoing inner dialogue drove me to keep reading.

Crystal Banks had everything going for her after graduation until she catches her ex-boyfriend cheating on her. Unfortunately, he is a vindictive person and able to cause great harm to her career since his family has the largest publishing house in the city and he used that power to blackball her. She had no job and, with the apartment in his name, she had no place to live. Left with student debt, she needed a well-paying job to get back on her feet! In desperation, Crystal applied for a Personal Assistant job that paid well and provided a place to live. Her new boss was handsome, but she found him bossy and domineering. Eric Steele had many restrictive rules and conditions on living in his isolated mansion in the woods. It felt like they were attracted to each other, but Crystal couldn’t actually be sure! There was definitely a mystery here to unearth. This book was good primarily because of Crystal’s quirky sense of human that kept the reader chuckling through the story. This story line was pretty tame since we are being introduced to the characters and setting up for the next book in the series. I liked it enough to keep going and look forward to the next book.

About the author

Writer Joquena Lomelino will be the first to admit that she’s weird. Given how the real world is often boring, she’d much rather play make-believe with shifters, vampires, and aliens. When she’s not writing about strange fantasy worlds and evil villains being laid low, she’s whispering sweet nothings to her robots for mopping her floors and washing her laundry. She’s hoping to keep them on her good side for when Skynet takes over. Too bad the robots may never forgive her or her husband for the horrors they force them to endure in the daily battle against evil, otherwise known as the constant messes made by her six children.

T.L. Krouse has always been a geek at heart. Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and DC and Marvel Comics are his lifeblood. His wife is a nerd too, and when she allowed Batman and Wonder Woman as their wedding cake toppers instead of the traditional bride and groom, he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were destined to be together forever. He’s also a metalhead and a 30+ year veteran on the guitar, and when he’s not crafting tales of alien invasion or epic shifter battles, he’s crunching Metallica riffs or shredding Van Halen solos. Every Halloween, he tries to carve more elaborate jack-o’-lanterns (past years’ designs include Skeletor, Darth Vader, and Wolverine). He’s actively indoctrinating his six children to be the next generation of geeks.
