In the present book “Sociological Foundation of Education” a comprehensive attempt has been made by the author to present the subject matter in an easy-to-understand language. This book will serve the curriculum needs of the under-graduates and post graduates students. Although this book contained curriculum for the under-graduates students of the Himachal Pradesh University but it can also satisfy the needs of the students from the other universities at different levels. Each and every aspect of the curriculum is explained briefly with the help of headings and sub-headings. New developments and up-to-date knowledge has also been incorporated in explaining the subject matter for the better understanding of students. This work is an attempt to explain the inter-linkage between the education and society by analysing the multidimensional aspects of the society and education. This book will help the readers to understand society, impacts of society on education and education on society, social change, role of teacher and functions of education etc.

Dr. Sudershan Kumar Pathania is from Nurpur (Kangra), Himachal Pradesh. He is presently working as a Principal in R.S. College of Education, District Kathua, in J &K. He completed his Bachelor Degree in Science from SRPA Adrash Bhartiya College Pathankot (Punjab), in 1996. He did M.SC. Mathematics, M.Ed. and M.A. Sociology from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He has qualified for National Eligible Test (NET-Education) in 2011. He got his Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE) from IGNOU, Delhi in 2012. M.A. in English is also in his credits and he completed this master degree from IGNOU. Dr .S.K. Pathania obtained his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Jammu. Dr. S.K. Pathania has presented a good number of research papers in National, International, World level Seminars and Conferences. He has participated in workshops organized by University of Jammu and National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh. He has also participated in UGC Sponsored Refresher Course organized by UGC Academic Staff College University of Jammu.
