About this ebook

India has a rich variety of biodiversity, including many national parks and nature reserves. Sadly, much of its biodiversity is in danger due to many factors including a fast-growing population and an over emphasis on development. Forest land and agricultural land are often cut to make way for housing. There needs to be a concerted effort to save India’s ecology and wildlife.

In this book we introduce to the reader some concepts and issues related to wildlife conservation in India. We discuss important wildlife species, laws, protected areas and sanctuaries and organizations in the field of wildlife conservation in India.

It is hoped that this book will provide the interested reader with useful information about conservation of natural wildlife.
