Danger stalks paradise.

The past never stays buried.

Sixteen years ago, Sergeant Lei Texeira met Harriet Vierra and Malia, the infant she adopted, in a deadly encounter in Mexico. Now a detective with the Maui Police Department, Harry works with Lei, and Malia, a teen sleuth, is determined to find her lost friend Camille.

But Camille is only one of many missing girls.

Young women are vanishing across the islands without a trace. Lei and Harry search for answers with the FBI, as Malia secretly conducts her own dangerous investigation: but for the girls taken by traffickers, time is running out.

Lei’s job remains challenging and rewarding as she grapples with more bad guys. She is aware that it’s easier for her with her husband, Stevens, in the same profession; he understands the extra hours that it takes to do a good job. That’s not so easy for most spouses of law enforcement members. Fortunately, her ohana help to make things work for Stevens, Lei and their kids. In Shark Cove, we reconnect with some characters from Lei’s past who will be an interesting addition to future stories. We have recently been to Maui, so it was fun to be familiar with some of the areas that are mentioned in the story. A another great adventure with Lei.

Toby Neal has done it again and I know it is going to be another best seller. Lei and Harry reconnect in this book and the baby Harry adopted is now16. Malia is the same age that a lot of the young girls are that are disappearing. Malia's friend is missing, and no one will take her seriously, so she decides to do her own investigating. There is a lot of suspense and always a twist. I received this advance copy to give an honest review. I have read every book that this author has written and I have enjoyed all of them.

Lei Texeira meets an old friend who has joined joined the Maui Police Dept - Harriet (or Harry) and her daughter Malia. Lei is involved in cases of missing girls, and Malia becomes very concerned when her school friend Camille, disappears. Are the two things connected? When Camille's mother gives a convincing reason for her disappearance, the police appear satisfied - but not Malia! She continues the hunt for her friend. It's not long before both cases collide again in this new novel from Ms Neal. The author has again given us a tropical adventure with a current background. The descriptive passages of island life will immerse you in Hawaiian culture, while solving the crime. I was given an ARC in exchange for a review.
