About this ebook

Cold tingles zinged through Callan. The rain, coupled with the breeze, had nothing to do with it.

This couldn’t be.

‘That’s… that’s not him, Dr Brown.’

Two murders, forty years apart. Are they connected?

Andrew Mackay is found sitting beside a corpse with a bloody stick in hand. Across town, the dig to unearth a body from the bog leads to the discovery of another missing person.

Amateur sleuth Aileen Mackinnon believes in Andrew’s innocence. She’s determined to catch the real killer, even as her own life self-destructs.

Searching for his best friend’s body is turning out to be a mammoth task Detective Inspector Callan Cameron didn’t expect, professionally or emotionally. Now investigating another murder and worrying about his girlfriend’s safety, Callan is swamped.

When every move is like a step away from the truth, the only way forward is to collaborate. Who can they trust? Who is lying? And who kills when the red mist descends?

If books by Paul Austin Ardoin, Janet Evanovich and Jullian Scott keep you up all night, When Red Mist Rises is the perfect puzzling mystery for you!

When Red Mist Rises is the first book that I read by Shana Frost, and it has been really interesting. She has put together a good plot, the characters are believable, but what I liked most is the Scottish way of saying things. I learned quite a few new words or new meanings for old words! The descriptions of places, the difficulties, the cold weather are superbly done, I just wished the story had a quicker pace. In spite of this latter comment, I really enjoyed reading this book and found it very entertaining! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This story draws the reader in and challenges thoughts of who, what, where? At times the reader is on the edge of their seat, just waiting for the next event to happen. Although there is murder and some evil doings, nothing is gory or gruesome. There is ample intrigue throughout the book, moments of fun and laughter, a true sense of friendship and caring for one another that occurs in a small town, and the captivating suspense of searching for the killer. The descriptions of the characters make them pop off the page as though they are real. This is a well written story!
