About this ebook

Ramakrishna Pillai is the first in the rare  group of editors of the last century, who are still known in the name of the newspapers/magazines they once edited. Swedeshabhimany paper was owned by Vakkom Moulavi, who believed in the high principle of upholding the freedom of editor, even at the cost of media institution he established. Ramakrishna Pillai wrote hard hitting news and comments on the misrule and bad practices of the then Divan, the chief official of the Travancore King. The printing press of Swadeshabhimani was confiscated, newspaper closed and editor Ramakrishna Pillai deported to the British ruled province of Malabar in 1910. He died living in Kannur. This book is the research findings of Puthuppally Raghavan who took pains to locate the official documents of the rulers indicting Ramakrishna Pillai. There are several books on this legendary writer but the only one based on rare historical documents
