Have you ever seen your mother cry? Have you ever seen your brother die? Have you ever seen your aunt refuse to try? Have you ever seen your uncle steal from your grandmother then lie? Have you ever understood how a child feels when they don't have, and the other kids laugh? It's some ROUGH STUFF.
This story takes place in Newark, New Jersey. The city is infested with rodents, insects, poverty and excessive violence. The year is 1979, although the problems back then haven't changed much nowadays.
Elizabeth, Bren, Patty, and Millie are four young women who think they know it all. However, they are wrong. They don't know what the future holds. Nor do they realize that one bad decision can completely alter a good situation. Things don't always go as planned. Unforeseen occurrences befall us all. This is really ROUGH STUFF.
