I have written an article, viz, 'The Judicial Activism in India : A Boon' in this anthology 'Where to Hoar'. In this article, I have made a sincere attempt to delineate how the Supreme Court in India assumed the custody and guardianship of the Indian Constitution, as the legislative and the executive wings of the government have not come forward to assume the custody of the Constitution. This article is a very brief introduction on the topic of Judicial Activism in India. For detailed study on the topic, one may kindly refer 'Judicial Activism in India' by S.P.Sathe (published by the Oxford University Press). I have written the article in a way such that even an uninitiated person in the Indian Constitutional Law to easily comprehend the topic. (My article is based on the theme 'Coming of age'). The proper understanding of 'Basic Structure Doctrine' and how exceptionally the Supreme Court invokes the doctrine plays a crucial role in the rational acceptance of Indian Judicial Activism.
